Get Your Little One Ready for Sleep Away Camp with Name Bubbles

Do you have a little one going to sleep away camp for the first time this summer? How are they feeling about it? Are they ready? Maybe the better question is, are you?

In the picture book Away, written by Emil Sher and illustrated by Qin Leng, a child and her busy single mom communicate through sticky notes as the child reluctantly prepares for two weeks at summer camp, her very first sleep away camp experience.

While the child is super nervous, the combo of a visit from grandma and her mom’s reassurance are enough to get her on the camp bus. Hopefully she’s remembered bug spray and has packed more than one t-shirt, per mom’s advice! Spoiler alert: she has a great time!

One anxiety you can take off your child’s hands is that of losing their stuff at camp. Label your child’s items with Name Bubbles labels to ensure their things stay safe throughout their camp stay. Not only will this make things easier for your child, so they can focus on making friendship bracelets and enjoying campfire sing alongs, but it will also make things easier on you as a parent!

As a teacher and parent, I know how much ends up in the lost and found, despite everyone’s best efforts!

Here is a list of items you may want to consider labeling with Name Bubbles. While this list definitely isn’t exhaustive, hopefully it is a great start! I suggest you label everything you can!

  • All clothing, including swimsuits

  • Shoes

  • Hats and headbands

  • Sunglasses and goggles

  • Watches

  • Duffel bag

  • Sleeping bag/pillow/pillowcase

  • Stuffed animals

  • Water bottle

  • Canteens

  • Snack containers

  • Toiletries, including toothpaste and tooth brush, shampoo & conditioner, deodorant, lotion, etc.

  • Hair brushes and combs

  • Fidgets

  • Any allowed electronics and chargers

  • Journals

  • Books (in my opinion as a mega book lover, this is the item you most want to keep safe)

The pack of labels for camp includes 29 waterproof name labels of different shapes, 40 waterproof stick-on clothing labels, and four waterproof shoe labels.

Not only are the Name Bubbles labels laundry safe and washable but they’re also super cute and totally customizable. You can select your child’s favorite font, pattern, colors, and shapes to make the labels completely their own and easily recognizable. You can add their name, of course, AND any personal information (like a phone number or email address) that you want to be included on the labels.

Your little camper can select from prints including tie-dye, ballet slippers, cars, soccer balls, marble, ombré, mountain tops, unicorns, baseballs, and more.  I chose the yellow gingham labels for my fictitious little “Paige Turner.” My three-year old is still too young for camp, but these definitely the ones I will pick when she heads to camp a few short years from now. They are just too cute!

Your kiddos will love designing their labels right alongside you - encourage them to join in on the process!

This will get them excited and likely make them want to help with the labeling process itself, making less work for you! Make a night of it with snacks and by sharing memories of your own sleep away camp experiences.
