My baby is almost four months old! At this age, babies tend to love high-contrast black-and-white images. Looking at these images is supposedly super beneficial to their brain development! Another recommended activity for this age is tummy time, which is a part of several of these titles. Let’s check out the list!
High Contrast series from duopress
This board book series is great for babies. Each title in the series focuses on a different topic or theme, including ocean animals and sports! There is minimal text on each page which allows for a quick and engaging read aloud for baby. The compact size of these books makes them a great choice for reading on-the-go or together on the couch.
2. TummyTime series from duopress
These books unfold accordion-style and are great to place in baby’s play space for playtime, especially tummy time. There are two sides to the book - one featuring high-contrast, black-and-white images and the other featuring colorful artwork for slightly older babies. There is a mirror on each side, as well! My four year old finds these books really cool.
3. See Touch Feel: Tummy Time from Priddy Books
This board book presents like a traditional book, but contains a surprise! There are two double page fold-outs which allow the book to stand up and open out. The pages contain a variety of elements, including high-contrast images, sensory touch-and-feel elements, a mirror, and photographs of real babies. The appeal of this book goes beyond infancy!
4. Indestructibles series from Workman Publishing
This series has been a hit in our home since my four-year-old was a baby. As the name suggests, these titles are “indestructible,” which makes them awesome for babies who love to crinkle and chew on whatever they can get their hands on. These books are great for the bath and also for travel. Pack up a stack of them and enjoy on your next trip with baby.
5. Playtime!: A Tummy Time Play Book for Babies from Little Comet
This book folds out and stands up in front of baby, which makes it perfect for tummy time! What sets this book apart is its finger-wiggle puppet component, which makes reading a fun and interactive experience for baby and caregiver. There are two other books in this series - Tummy Time! and Reading Time!
